Day 1. Heathrow and Canals

Wow! What a first day. Started with an uneventful flight from LA to Heathrow. travelling pretty much through the night, and managed to get a few hours sleep in. Flying into Heathrow is amazing, there's planes everywhere, in the skies around you, and on the ground too. Such a difference from LAX, is the experience of going through the border control, Fast, simple and before you know it, you are outside! I jumped straight onto the Europcar shuttle, and went and collected my car. I had booked a small Fiat, but have ended up in a Citroen. Flags on, Kiwi is in town!
First experience of driving in England was pretty uneventful, managed to miss a turnoff, but thank you Google maps, for getting back on track. Drove up to Berkhamsted and meet with my good friend Kieran, where we immediately walked down to the canal, into a pub, and had a beer. It was just exceptional. Kieran and I both had Mustard procedures, and both had Transplant in 2009, it is remarkable how similar our stories are.

Kieran and I travelled by train (far out they are fast) into London and went and visited my good friend Vicki, who was in there for a procedure. A magical special time.
From there, we caught up with Kieran's wife Karen, and back on the train, to their house, and we headed off back to "The Boat" for a beer and some dinner, Bangers and mash, which was really good!! walking along, beside the canal, is really lovely, so very peaceful and very tranquil. The day was drawing to a close, so a nice cup of tea and to Bed it was. the travel was catching up on me. Today was a great day, very special and I feel a little humbled to be here.
